Rhossili Bryophytes (1)

I was lucky enough to accompany Sam Bosanquet on one of his CCW monitoring visits to the limestone outcrops on Rhossili headland and was amazed by the diversity of bryophytes, many of which are scarce representatives of the Mediterranean element of our bryophyte flora. Very many thanks to Sam for his time and patience.

  2. Thanks VN
For macro shots, when I'm allowed ;o), I use my wife's Canon 550D, with a 90mm macro (Tamron I think), an extension tube and a Speedlite 430EXII mounted on a bracket so that the flash head and the end of the lens are more or less touching. A slightly modified version of what Tristan Bantock recommended for me. Check out his flickr site for some really stunning macro work :o) My main issue with this set up is I find the results tend to be a bit warmer than in real life, though I'm sure I could resolve this by playing around with the White Balance settings?
